Tension / Relaxation
The muscle tension is one of the most limiting factors in athletic performance and even the quality of life.
The bad posture it can result of the intense RITMO of life, or problems that we live everyday, or a bad tecnhical learning.
The tensions will condition the quality of movement.
The elimination of unnecessary tension from the first moment, is one of the strategies based on the Fluid Tennis.
The breath, posture, awareness of tensions and inhibition, they are the most widely used ways of working to eliminate these tensions.
The quality of the tennis racquet , the quality of tennis balls, the dimension tennis court and learning technique, they can to facilitate the learning of a more fluid movement.
If these factors are not taken care they can cause unnecessary muscle tension and of course a bad quality movement.
A body with a extreme relaxation levels or a extreme tension level, there is no movement, and therefore any movement takes place between these two states.
The manage of tension levels in each moment it is the key to the fluidity of chains of movement.
It is essential to find a state of "active relaxation".
This will provide a way to be alert that allows the student to respond immediately to the action, and quickly move from a state of relaxation to the high tension.
During the exchange balls, the ability to move from a low tension level in preparation of specific technical movement to contact with high tension level, and return to the initial low tension level at the end of movement (phase of the drop - R. Laban) it is what differentiates the top player of the normal player.

This concept of energy concentration at the time of contact, and relaxed in the other phases, it is crucial in addressing of Martial Arts in relation to contact with an object.
The stability of vision in movement, it is important in tennis, and the consequent ability to maintain focus on the ball (zoom) and the secondary vision in the surrounding area (scan) it is a consequence of maintaining the active relaxation state that it must be maintained during the changing balls.
